The 48 Tilt continuums are the primary measure for balance of the personality traits in whole-brain reasoning. Both sides of the continuums (called Tilting patterns) become problematic when they are extremes in terms of frequency or tone. Behavior at the two extremes represent a reaction to stress that can be brought back into balance by focusing on character strength instead of fear. And since most of our fears are deeply rooted in the subconscious memory, it is important to bring them into awareness so we can deal with them at a conscious level to reprogram the stimulus and response pattern. Whether we under-develop or overuse a trait (either extreme) it means the same thing ~ Specifically that we are operating from a subconscious fear-pattern instead of from conscious character strength. Illustrating this continuum on a parabola makes this more clear. The above example parabola on the character strength of confidence indicates that if we have under-developed confidence (insecurity), it's not that different from over-used confidence (arrogance). Our observers are clear that something is "off" and that normal confidence is not being observed, but they may see it from two points of view depending on their own Tilt. Besides, there is very little difference between insecurity and arrogance. They are both distorted aspects of normal confidence that indicate a an our of balance behavior.

All 48 continuums play out this way. Some of us Tilt to the left and some to the right, but all of us know when it's out of balance and we just can't put our finger on why it seems that way. The true issue is the emotional relationship to fear versus character strength.

Interpreting Your Tilt 365 Results:

If you have a score of less than 3.5 in any of the 12 character strengths, then you may be operating from fear instead of character strength. This can be subtle and a blind spot for you to observe for a period of time until it comes to you, Or it could be obvious to you and you'll know what to do to correct it quickly. In either case, a low score means that you are either under-developed in this area (deficient in the character strength) or that you are overcompensating and overusing it and going to extremes in the application of the character strength. Both represent some kind of hidden fear that is driving the behavior and making it fall outside of the middle zone. This creates stress, conflict, drama and other reactionary affects in relationships.
